MINEOLA, N.Y. (AP) — Two alleged members of the brutal MS-13 gang have been charged with murder in separate killings of two teenagers who were hacked to death on Long Island. Josue Figueroa-Velazquez and Kevin Lopez-Morales were arraigned on a grand jury indictment Friday in the deaths of 15-year-old Angel Soler and 19-year-old Josue Amaya Leonor. Both pleaded not guilty. MONTICELLO, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas State Police say they have arrested a 48-year-old woman in a murder-for-hire investigation. Stephanie Rogers of Monticello was arrested Thursday after an investigation by the State Police criminal investigation division. Prosecutors have charged Rogers with capital murder conspiracy and capital murder solicitation. Rogers was arrested after the Monticello Police Department received information alleging that she wanted an individual killed. The person's name and relationship to Rogers haven't been released. NEW SALEM, Mass. (AP) — A Massachusetts State Police trooper sustained stab wounds to the head, neck, shoulders and arm while trying to apprehend an 18-year-old man who had earlier fled a traffic stop. Authorities say the teenage suspect was then shot in the torso by the 47-year-old trooper and both were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. The trooper was conscious and alert. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Police are searching for the suspects in a stabbing that killed a 28-year-old man as he left a bar with his girlfriend in Philadelphia's Chinatown. Authorities say the stabbing happened around 2 a.m. Sunday just blocks away from police headquarters. Brett Berdini's girlfriend told officers the two had just left Johnnie Walker's Lounge when he was attacked by a group of men and stabbed twice in the torso. LOS ANGELES — The University of Southern California on Friday announced a tentative agreement for a $215 million class-action settlement of claims involving alleged sexual harassment and abuse by a gynecologist who treated hundreds of students over decades.
