SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) — Officials have cancelled a Maine high school football game over concerns about hand, foot and mouth disease. Scarborough High School said in a letter sent to parents Thursday that they are calling off Friday's homecoming game against Massabesic High School because Massabesic has reported cases of the virus which leads to the disease. RENO, Nev. (AP) — Authorities say Reno police fatally shot a man after he disregarded commands and drove a pickup toward officers as police responded to family disturbance incidents involving him. The Sparks Police Department and the Washoe County Sheriff's Office are investigating the fatal shooting Sunday evening of Phillip Serrano. According to a statement released Thursday evening by the investigating agencies, six officers fired at the pickup. The agencies said their investigation is continuing.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — The public school district in Ann Arbor says it's working to replace older water fixtures and installing more bottle filling stations as part of an effort to deal with levels of lead detected in drinking water at some schools. Ann Arbor Public Schools Superintendent Jeanice Swift issued a statement this week, saying the district is committed to achieving the lowest possible levels of lead. ELLENVILLE, N.Y. (AP) — Authorities say they're looking for a man suspected of firing a gun at hospital in upstate New York. MILLINOCKET, Maine (AP) — Authorities say a hiker who fractured her ankle hiking a trail on Mount Katahdin has been airlifted to safety. Baxter State Park officials say a team of volunteers and staff carried the unidentified 57-year-old woman down the slope to a campground early Thursday. BANGOR, Maine (AP) — A Connecticut man convicted of manslaughter in the death of his girlfriend's husband has been sentenced to 18 years in prison. Antoinne "Prince" Bethea, of New Haven, Connecticut, was convicted in the shooting death of Terrance Durel Sr. in Bangor. CINCINNATI (AP) — Police in Ohio say a body reported near a park turned out to be a sex doll. Authorities say Hamilton County engineers called Colerain police Thursday afternoon when they spotted what they thought was a body near Richardson Forest Preserve. Police say the figure was wrapped in a garbage bag and had been abandoned on a hillside. Colerain Police Chief Mark Denney says officers pulled the figure out of the bag and discovered it was a life-size female sex doll. Authorities say the doll looked lifelike from a distance.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma Board of Education continues to approve hundreds of emergency teacher certificates as schools across the state struggle with the teacher shortage. SYRACUSE, N.Y. (AP) — The president of a New York state-run academic medical center roiled by several controversies in recent months is stepping down. Dr. Danielle Laraque-Arena announced Thursday that she's resigning as president of the State University of New York's Upstate Medical University in Syracuse.
