A bus collided with a Muni train just before 9:30 a.m. Friday near the intersection of Mission Rock and Third streets in San Francisco, officials said. Paul Rose, a spokesperson for the San Francisco Metropolitan Transit Agency, said investigators believe the vehicle made a left turn in front of the train when the accident occurred.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Fewer than half of the branches of Philadelphia's public libraries will be open on Saturdays this fall because of a lack of funding. The library system says only 23 of its 54 branches will be open on those days because the system can't hire sufficient staff for the facilities. But Philly.com reports a grassroots effort called #FundOurLibraries is calling on city officials to provide more funding. CHICAGO (AP) — Federal officials are withholding millions of dollars in grant money from Chicago Public Schools amid concerns that the district failed to protect students from sexual violence. The Chicago Tribune reports that the U.S. Department of Education informed the district Thursday that it had suspended this year's $4 million installment of the Magnet Schools Assistance Program grant. HAINES CITY, Fla. (AP) — Authorities in central Florida say a man posing as a police officer raped an undocumented woman and threatened to have her deported if she told anyone. Haines City police officers charged Erubiel Ojeda-Aladino on Wednesday with three counts of sexual battery, impersonating a law enforcement officer and tampering with physical evidence.
