SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) — The Springfield school district has settled a lawsuit filed by a 2011 graduate who was seriously injured when she was stomped in a muddy pit in 2010. The district agreed to pay $423,106 to Megan Taylor, who was 17 when she was injured during a back-to-school event in August 2010 at Kickapoo High School. (AP) — In a story Sept. 25 about the University of Mississippi, The Associated Press reported erroneously that the university is trying to speed up the process of removing a donor's name from the journalism school. MEXICO CITY (AP) — Authorities found the bodies of two Mexican marines wrapped in blood-stained sheets and dumped on a street in the Caribbean coast resort of Cancun on Wednesday. The bodies were found in downtown Cancun, relatively far from most of the resort's hotels. They had apparently been stabbed. The Mexican navy condemned the killings, saying the two marines were off duty when they were killed. The two servicemen were based on the nearby island of Isla Mujeres. (AP) — Madison police say a youth suffered a non-life-threatening injury when he was shot a couple blocks from La Follette High School in the second shooting near the school in just over a week.
