HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Every summer morning, Midge Eliassen has the same routine. She walks out her back door, down the steps, and onto her dock on Lake Sunapee. There, she pulls out a plankton net and takes a sample from the water, shipping off the results to be analyzed in a lab at Dartmouth College. She's been doing this, rain or shine, for 12 years. HEREFORD, Texas (AP) — Investigators say a single-engine plane has crashed shortly after takeoff from a Texas Panhandle airport in an accident that left all four people on board hurt and destroyed the aircraft. The Department of Public Safety says the crash happened late Sunday morning at Hereford Municipal Airport. The Piper PA-32-30 broke apart, with pieces of the plane scattered in a grassy area. Sgt. MAYWOOD, Ill. (AP) — Police say a suspect was wounded in barrage of gunfire involving police officers outside a Burger King restaurant in suburban Chicago. Illinois State Police say the suspect suffered non-life threatening injuries and was taken to a hospital in stable condition after Sunday night's shooting in the western suburb of Maywood. (AP) — A Houston-based oil company is asking New Mexico regulators to change the rules to allow for more wells to be drilled in two northwestern counties, saying natural gas reserves have more to give if they can be accessed. Palm Beach County Sheriff's officials said in an email that 60-year-old Philip Castronova and 39-year-old Mandy Castronova died when the plane crashed and caught fire in a park in southern Palm Beach County on Sunday. DOVER, Del. (AP) — A federal judge has ruled in favor of a labor union representing workers at the Port of Wilmington in a lawsuit filed by its former president and other former officers. The judge granted summary judgment Monday to local 1694-1 of International Longshoremen's Association. AMHERST, Mass. (AP) — Police have arrested a Massachusetts college student who they say assaulted three paramedics and a police officer. Authorities say the assault happened Saturday night when paramedics were trying to treat the University of Massachusetts Amherst student. Amherst Fire Chief Tim Nelson says the student removed the straps holding him to a stretcher and punched a paramedic in the back of a head.
