ST. LOUIS (AP) — Federal prosecutor allege the former business director of Washington University's Division of Medical Education embezzled about $300,000 for her personal use. An indictment unsealed Monday says Barbara Skudrzyk, of St. Louis, was indicted on six counts of mail fraud. She was arrested Monday. MAZAR-I-SHARIF, Afghanistan — Taliban insurgents killed at least 57 Afghan police officers and soldiers in four attacks in northern Afghanistan on Monday, a day after more than 60 people were killed in a separate barrage, officials said. COLUMBIA, Mo. (AP) — A judge has ruled that a lawsuit filed by an animal rights group against the University of Missouri over the cost of receiving public records could go to trial. Circuit Judge Jeff Harris ruled Friday in a lawsuit by Animal Rescue Media Education, which also is called the Beagle Freedom Project. SALEM, Ore. (AP) — An Oregon man sentenced to 50 years in prison has walked free after a district attorney asked for dismissal of the sex-abuse case against him. The action Monday by Deschutes County District Attorney John Hummel in the case of Josh Horner came after the Oregon Innocence Project found holes in his 2017 conviction that undermined the credibility of the complainant, including that Horner had shot a dog in front of her. RIVERSIDE, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say a man has been arrested on suspicion of sexually assaulting a child under 10 at an unlicensed daycare center run by his family in Southern California. The Riverside Police Department says 49-year-old Hubert Edgin was taken into custody on Friday after a girl at the daycare accused him of molesting her. It wasn't known Monday if he has an attorney. (AP) — Paddling students is now a disciplinary policy at a Georgia charter school and parents who don't consent have to agree to up to five days of suspension for their children instead.
