NEW YORK (AP) — Toys R Us is closing its last U.S. stores by Friday, the end of a chain known to generations of children and parents for its sprawling stores, brightly colored logo and Geoffrey the giraffe mascot. But many of the children who happily sang the "I don't wanna grow up, I'm a Toys R Us kid" jingle grew into busy parents who found shopping online more convenient. JEROME, Idaho (AP) — A 21-year-old eastern Idaho woman will serve up to 15 years in prison for killing two adults and a child in a drunken driving crash last year. The Times-News reports that Shentasha Bybee of Rexburg received a unified sentence of 15 years, with five years fixed and 10 years indeterminate, on Monday. FORT SMITH, Ark. (AP) — An 18-year-old Fort Smith man has been convicted of murder in the fatal shooting of his next door neighbor. A Sebastian County jury on Wednesday convicted Dionte Parks of first-degree murder, aggravated robbery and kidnapping in the January 2016 shooting death of University of Arkansas at Fort Smith student Kaleb Watson. Parks was 15 at the time but was tried and convicted as an adult. He faces 10 to 40 years or life in prison. ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) — A western New York county has a new pilot program to help former inmates more successfully re-enter society. WHEC says the Monroe County program provides government-issued ID cards that remove barriers to getting health services, applying for jobs and traveling. Jail Captain John Kennedy says that in the past, inmates kept their jail photo IDs. He says those carry a stigma associated with "the worst day of their life." No taxpayer dollars are involved. CONCORD, N.H. (AP) — Police in New Hampshire say a man pulled a knife on another man while they waited for a cab and hit his service dog with a book bag. They've charged 27-year-old Christopher Paquette, of Concord, with criminal threatening, drug possession, and cruelty to animals. Police in Concord said Paquette approached the man waiting for the cab on Tuesday and said he needed a ride. The man said Paquette could take his cab, but then Paquette became agitated. MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Minneapolis police say a shooting and a car crash have left one man dead. Officials say the man was shot by an assailant while sitting in his car just after 10 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities say the man sped away after he was shot, struck an unoccupied vehicle and flipped the car. Police say the victim crawled out of the vehicle to the side of the street and lost consciousness. He was taken to North Memorial Health Hospital where he died.

MANDAN, N.D. (AP) — Mandan police are investigating the deaths of two males whose bodies were found in a home. Police on Wednesday afternoon received a report of a possible medical emergency, and officers who went to the home to conduct a welfare check found the bodies. Deputy Police Chief Jason Bier says there is no reason to believe the public is in any danger. The identities of the males weren't immediately released.

Fish and Game Department officers say 52-year-old Frank Colon, of Dublin, New Hampshire, lost control of the bike and crashed along a trail in Antrim on Wednesday. Colon was wearing a helmet and other safety gear. Officers are investigating.

LONDON (AP) — Buckingham Palace says Queen Elizabeth II is feeling poorly and has cancelled a planned appearance. The palace said in a Thursday statement that the 92-year-old monarch "is feeling under the weather" and will not attend a morning service at St. Paul's Cathedral. The service marks the 200th anniversary of the Order of St. Michael and St. George. The queen has had a busy schedule in recent weeks, including appearances at the Royal Ascot horse show.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — A Clemson University professor says it's unclear what caused a fish kill in South Carolina lakes last month. The Herald-Journal of Spartanburg reported a Clemson professor studied the cause of a fish kill at Lake Bowen and another reservoir in Spartanburg County. Professor John Rogers said a spray recently used to kill algae on the water may have contributed to the fish kill, but was not the only cause.
