A Richmond man was arrested after another man was stabbed in BART’s El Cerrito del Norte Station late Saturday, BART police said. The incident happened inside the fare gates on the station’s lower level about 10:21 p.m., BART spokeswoman Cheryl Stalter said. WASHINGTON — A lawyer tapped to lead a task force at the Environmental Protection Agency overseeing cleanups at the nation’s most polluted places worked until recently for a top chemical and plastics manufacturer with a troubled legacy of creating some of those toxic sites. Steven Cook has been named as the new chair of the Superfund Task Force, which EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt created last year to revamp how the agency oversees cleanups at the more than 1,300 toxic sites.

A man on the tracks at the Redwood City Caltrain station was struck and killed by a northbound train late Saturday, the fourth fatality involving the commuter rail service this year, a Caltrain spokesman said. The man was “trespassing on the tracks” at the station about 10:56 p.m. when he was struck, spokesman Dan Lieberman said. The train carried 131 passengers, but no injuries were reported on board, he said. The incident remained under investigation, and the man’s name and age were not immediately released. Officials say 36-year-old Gary Gorman is believed headed for Dallas, about 150 miles (241.39 kilometers) to the west. Gorman was assigned inside the jail with a work crew late Saturday night and was taking a bag of trash to outside containers. He never returned. PITTSBURGH (AP) — A man has been charged with criminal homicide in connection with severed human remains found at a Pittsburgh home. Forty-two-year-old John Robert Dickinson is also charged in Allegheny County with abuse of a corpse, evidence-tampering and other crimes. The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that police found evidence of a violent struggle in the blood-spattered home of 46-year-old Kevin Thompson. BERTRAM, Iowa (AP) — Authorities have identified the 60-year-old man who died after crashing his bicycle in eastern Iowa. The Linn County Sheriff's office says Charles Cephas Peal of Bertram, Iowa, died after the bicycle crash around 9 p.m. Friday. Peal was riding down a steep hill when he fell off the bike. He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Investigators say the man was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
