DETROIT (AP) — The Roman Catholic Church in southeastern Michigan is urging people to step forward if they believe they were sexually abused by a priest who died in 1993. The archdiocese says it investigated a complaint against Monsignor Arthur Karey and found it credible. Spokesman Ned McGrath says the allegation involved a girl decades ago but was received just last year. Karey died in 1993 at age 74. He was a priest for 50 years in Detroit, Ecorse and Lake Orion. LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas has hired a consultant to evaluate a stretch of river where a kayaker drowned this month when he was dragged into a rare sinkhole created a whirlpool. Commissioner of State Lands John Thurston says experts will begin evaluating the Spring River on Monday. The sinkhole area is closed to the public. MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee police say a 15-year-old boy was shot and killed inside a vehicle. Police say the shooting happened at about 6 p.m. Friday in the 1300 block of North 28th Street. The boy died at the scene. Authorities are seeking a suspect and a motive. No further information was immediately available.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Firefighters are expected to fully contain a small wildfire in the Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The U.S. Bureau of Land Management says the 91-acre (37 hectare) fire is smoldering in grass, shrubs and pinon pine. About 50 firefighters are working Saturday to mop up hot spots. A 13-mile scenic drive through the conservation remains open. But federal officials say the Pine Creek parking lot and nearby trails are closed. BOSTON (AP) — Inmates at a Massachusetts jail will get the chance to talk to the candidates for Boston's next top prosecutor. The six candidates for Suffolk District Attorney will appear at a unique forum on Tuesday at the Suffolk County House of Correction at South Bay. The forum is being hosted by the Suffolk County Sheriff's Department and the American Civil Liberties Union of Massachusetts. HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) — Police are investigating a morning shooting that killed one man in Connecticut. Officers were called to the Dutch Point Mini Market in Hartford at 9:50 a.m. for a report of a man shot. They found the unnamed man with a gunshot wound to the head. He was taken to Hartford Hospital and died shortly after. Hartford police say the shooting appears to be intentional and not a random act. No one has been arrested.

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A veteran in Oklahoma whose life and business were disrupted when his lawn equipment was stolen no longer needs to face acres of grass using a push mower. The Tulsa World reports Cody Nichols on Friday received $15,000 worth of new lawn-mowing equipment through the nonprofit group Soldier's Wish. The Tulsa-based organization works to meet the needs of military veterans. Nichols, who served in the Marines, operates Our Troops Services. PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Officials say a $5,000 reward is being offered for information in the hit-and-run accident that killed a 5-year-old boy in west Philadelphia. Police say Xavier Moy was struck just after 4 p.m. Friday and rushed to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, where he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
