Bad hops contributed to A’s rough time on defense
CHICAGO - Defensive mishaps cost the A’s a chance to run their season-high winning streak in Game 2 of Friday’s doubleheader, and some of that was the result of some unfortunate bounces.
Shortstop Marcus Semien, who made an error in each game of the doubleheader, said he had to deal with several bad hops, including one on a potential double-play grounder by Tim Anderson in the sixth inning of Oakland’s 6-4 Game 2 loss.
“That one bounced up and I guess I could have barehanded it, but I tried to glove-flip it and it flipped up,” Semien said after the A’s five-game winning streak came to an end.
