The News Journal reports the Delaware Council on Development Finance awarded the grants on Monday to student loan provider Sallie Mae, biotechnology company Prelude Therapeutics and air conditioning business General Refrigeration Co.

(AP) — Union Pacific is laying off 500 managers and 250 other railroad workers to reduce costs. Union Pacific CEO Lance Fritz says that eliminating open positions through attrition and improving productivity isn't enough to cut costs.

The vote comes after a months-long debate over police contracts in the city, which is located about 110 miles (177 kilometers) northwest of Detroit. The newspaper says Pinconning's police department runs on a budget of about $110,000 per year.

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump is renewing his attacks on e-commerce giant Amazon, and he says the company is "doing great damage to tax paying retailers." State governments have sought to capture sales taxes lost to internet retailers, though they have struggled with a 1992 Supreme Court ruling that retailers must have a physical presence in a state before officials can make them collect sales tax.

The drop in teen deaths had been a rare bright spot in the opioid epidemic that has seen adult overdose deaths surge year after year — fueled by abuse of prescription painkillers, heroin and newer drugs like fentanyl.
