49ers’ Jaquiski Tartt back in starting role
After the 49ers selected Samford safety Jaquiski Tartt in the second round in 2015, general manager Trent Baalke was asked why he used a premium selection on a seemingly stocked position. The 49ers, after all, were coming off an 8-8 season and already had capable starters in Antoine Bethea, a two-time Pro Bowl selection, and Eric Reid, a 2013 first-round pick.
