(AP) — The University of Missouri has denied a request from a student group that wants to put a marijuana leaf on a T-shirt next to the university's name. The Kansas City Star (http://j.mp/1UsRNNX ) reports MU NORML wanted to raise money selling T-shirts with a marijuana leaf in the shape of an animal paw next to the campus skyline, another cannabis leaf and the name of the group and the university.

The plans had been announced several months ago by Bright Futures Fund, which said it was planning the new Catholic elementary school in the old Derrick Thomas Academy charter school building. The fund, which raises money for schools in the diocese, was working to acquire the closed school building.

Prosecutors say Garry Wayne Craighead of Leander ran clinics mainly treating injured U.S. Postal Service workers covered by the Federal Employees' Compensation Act. The National Museum of the American Sailor Foundation is launching a $40 million fundraising campaign for a museum near Naval Station Great Lakes. FARMINGTON, Conn. (AP) — Three people were injured in an early-morning shooting outside of a Farmington bar. Police responded just before 2 a.m. Sunday to the Tavern at the Exchange for a report of shots fired in the parking lot. Responding officers found two men and one woman suffering from gunshot wounds. They were taken to Hartford Hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Police have not released their identities. ATLANTA (AP) — Police say a man has been arrested after a fatal shooting of another man that led to a police standoff lasting more than four hours in southwest Atlanta. Atlanta police spokeswoman Kim Jones tells local news media that 20-year-old Nathaniel Mathis taken into custody Saturday evening after the standoff.

GREENVILLE, S.C. (AP) — Greenville County Sheriff's deputies are investigating a weekend shooting in which a teenager was killed and a second man wounded. Sheriff's Sgt. Jimmy Bolt tells local media outlets that the shooting happened about 12:30 a.m. on Saturday in the Judson community. Deputies were called to the scene and found two men with gunshot wounds.
