Storms leave thousands in northwest Iowa without power
SIOUX CITY, Iowa (AP) — Residents in northwestern Iowa were cleaning up Saturday after storms brought strong winds that downed power lines and tree limbs and knocked out electricity to thousands overnight. The power utility sought "a pretty significant amount of backup" to help restore power and clean up the damage, said MidAmerican spokeswoman Ashton Newman. No injuries were reported, as festival organizers had already evacuated the area around 7 p.m. Friday because of strong wind and lightning.
