LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas police are searching for a male suspect in connection with a fatal shooting. According to police, officers were called to investigate a report of shots fired and found one person dead inside a vehicle.

The campaign for a planned memorial at the site of a 2003 nightclub fire that killed 100 people is getting closer to completion. Survivors of the blaze and family members of those killed plan to hold a memorial service Sunday at Warwick City Hall to mark the 13th anniversary of the fire at The Station nightclub in West Warwick.

(AP) — Officials say the number of students at a Pennsylvania college reporting symptoms of a stomach illness has now topped 200, but the source of the ailment remains a mystery. The school's dining hall was closed after students began complaining of vomiting, diarrhea and stomach pain Tuesday night, but it was reopened after an inspection.

The Senate voted 29-12 Thursday to approve legislation that would require the New Mexico Lottery Authority to provide $41 million a year for college scholarships. Lottery ticket sales have been down, but some advocates are concerned the legislation would actually limit the amount the lottery delivers to the scholarship program.

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York may allow the parents of young children to defer a piece of their state income taxes to help cover the cost of child care.
