Stephen Curry savors chance to hold U.S. Open golf trophy
Stephen Curry literally sprinted off the basketball court, like a kid dashing away from school after the final bell.
The object of Curry’s affection, in this case: the U.S. Open golf trophy.
USGA officials brought the large, sterling silver trophy to Warriors headquarters Monday, on their way to Pebble Beach for a promotional appearance later this week. Next year’s U.S. Open will be held at Pebble in June.
So as Golden State’s shootaround drew to a close, Curry made his mad dash for the trophy. He carefully inspected it, marveling at all the engraved names — from Walter Hagen and Ben Hogan to Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer to Tiger Woods and Brooks Koepka (who won the Open the past two years).
