Boy, 6, with cystic fibrosis beams after beating coronavirus
The genetic condition left Joseph Bostain vulnerable to potentially serious complications, but he has now beaten Covid-19
A six year-old boy with cystic fibrosis beamed for the camera after successfully beating coronavirus. Joseph Bostin, from Clarksville in Tennessee, jokingly flexed his biceps and said: ‘I’m a cystic fibrosis warrior and I beat Covid-19!’
The youngster fell ill with coronavirus last month, with his worried mother Sabrina sharing updates on Joseph’s condition regularly on Facebook. She feared he was at much higher risk of potentially serious Covid-19 complications because of his cystic fibrosis diagnosis.
The genetic condition sees sufferers’ produce thick mucus, which can clog their lungs. In severe cases, coronavirus causes pneumonia which sees sufferers’ lungs further overwhelmed with fluids, sometimes fatally.
Joseph suffered a bad cough and fever while battling coronavirus while undergoing treatment for his existing illness, but managed to overcome the condition, and is now on the mend.
Writing on Facebook, Sabrina added: ‘I just want to say I think we are back to somewhat of a normal routine for Joseph and our household! Joseph is doing great! We still have a small cough and some minor stomach issues but overall we have a happy, hungry, active young man that feels 95% better!
‘We will continue our quarantine here at home taking all the same precautions as we were even when our quarantine is up! I will continue to to keep Joseph out of arms way from the public for a time so I know that he will remain healthy!’
