If you're struggling to find something a little more high tech than a tie for your old man this year, I'm here to help you out. Whether your dad is a geek or not, chances are he'll appreciate the offerings here, some of which even give him an excuse to take out the toolbox and work on a project. So if your dad deserves more than just a pat on the back this year, here are our choices for some great Father's Day tech gifts.
A good pair of headphones
AmazonIt doesn't matter whether he likes Miley Cyrus or Miles Davis, the Beach Boys or The Blues, if your dad loves music he should have a great pair of headphones. I've used the this pair from Sony on and off for the past few years and have never been disappointed by the sound. For lack of a better term, everything sounds "right" when I listen to music on them. Insider Picks has discussed these cans in more detail before, but they'll definitely help your dad kick out the jams.
Sony MDR-7506, $79.95, available at Amazon.
A fitness tracker
AmazonIf your dad is looking to get in or stay in shape, it might be a good idea for him to have a fitness band. Fitness tracking has come a long way since the Nike + debuted almost 10 years ago. Our choice for the best all-around fitness band is the FitBit Charge HR. It has solid sleep tracking and accurate step counting capabilities and great battery life. The FitBit Charge HR is only water resistant, not waterproof, though, and its heart rate sensor isn't very accurate when exercising.
FitBit Charge HR, $130.72, available at Amazon.
An e-reader
AmazonIf your dad is an avid book reader, then there's a low chance that he'll ever give up his paperbacks and hardcovers completely. Still, for traveling or reading books he's less serious about, a Kindle Paperwhite would make a fabulous gift. It's more expensive than the base Kindle, but has double the screen resolution and four back lights to cut down on eye strain and help your dad read in the dark.
Kindle Paperwhite, $119.99, available at Amazon.
