According to the press service of the border guard service of the
National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, a similar point of view
was expressed by the commanders of the border troops of the CIS
countries on May 22 during the 77th meeting of the Council of Border
Troops Commanders of the CIS countries, held in Alma-Ata.
"The participants of the meeting discussed the border security of the
outer borders of the Central-Asian region. The participants were
unanimous about the situation on the outer borders shows the hard
military- political situation and threats to the border security of
several member states of CIS. It is emphasized that the most tense is
the situation on Afghanistan direction because of the enlargement of
the zones of military actions in the northwestern provinces of
Afghanistan. The participants agreed to develop the cooperation with
the UN in this sector", the statement reads.
It is noted that the next meeting is scheduled in the second half of
2017.
