Parliament of Egypt raised issue on recognition of Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Empire
ArmInfo. In the parliament of Egypt, the issue was raised about the need to recognize the Armenian Genocide in Ottoman Empire in the 20th century.
The expediency of adopting such a document was announced by the deputy chairman of the commission for defense and national security of the Egyptian parliament, Yaha Kidvani, and the secretary of the commission on foreign affairs Tarek Huli, Horizonweekly reports. As an example, they pointed to the relevant decision of the Dutch parliament. According to parliamentarians, the adoption of such a decision will suppress the ardor of Turkey, which, cooperating with Qatar, patronizes international terrorism.
The MPs stressed that the Armenian Genocide is a fait accompli, and the Egyptian parliament should evaluate these events. Huli also stressed that during the Armenian Genocide, Egypt sheltered thousands of refugees. "Today these people live next to us, and we must prevent Ankara's imperialistic plans," the deputy concluded.
