MES of Armenia: More gas explosions in Armenia
ArmInfo.MES of Armenia awaits the results of the examination of the explosion that took place today at the gas-filling station at the entrance to the city of Artashat,
Ararat region. The cause of the explosion, said today at a press
conference the head of the National Center for Crisis Management of
the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Armenia Hovhannes
Khangeldyan, is still unknown.
According to him, for the first half of 2017, 11 explosions were
registered in Armenia, 6 more than in 2016. At the same time,
Khangeldyan stressed, there is no sharp increase in incidents
connected with explosions at the gas station. According to the
representative of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the
Republic of Armenia, from 2016 a large-scale process of inspections
at the gas station began. As a result, the number of violations and
accidents decreased. "I think the mass checks gave their result,"
Hovhannes Khangeldyan said.
Today, early in the morning, an explosion occurred at one of the gas
stations in Armenia. The reason for the explosion was the fact that
during the refueling the gas cylinder of the VAZ-2106 car blew up. As
a result of the explosion, a petrol station worker was injured. It
should be recalled that on May 4, at a Cabinet meeting, Karen
Karapetyan, the head of the government, acknowledged the
unsatisfactory work of gas filling stations (AGS). "The quality of
services provided by automobile gas stations and their compliance
with the norms of technical safety are assessed as extremely
unsatisfactory," he said.- said the prime minister, recalling that
only in the last period a number of incidents with explosions of gas
cylinders at gas stations were registered. This situation, according
to the head of the Cabinet, in particular, is due to insufficient
control over the sphere. According to Karapetyan, the fact that to
this day there is no effective system for preventing violations of
the permissible pressure limit is of extreme concern.
