Prime minister: Armenia has sufficient potential to cope with challenges
In an address issued in connection with the 25th anniversary of Armenia’s independence prime minister Karen Karapetyan says today Armenians celebrate one of the most important national holidays, which symbolizes ‘our centuries-old will and purpose to live freely and independently.’
Karepyatyan notes that a few months before the celebration of the 25th anniversary of an independent state Armenians had to face most serious challenges, which they overcame with inherent dignity.
"I congratulate today all as the head of the Armenian government. In the first place I bow my head before the heroes who fought for the independence having created a 25-year history of independence" ,he is quoted as saying by the government press service.
"We are a state that has withstand the history exam; we have enough will and capacity to jointly cope with all the challenges. We have a mission - to consolidate the values achieved by the independent state by our creative work", - said Karapetyan.
Armenia celebrates today the 25th anniversary of independence. On this day in 1991 the Supreme Council of the republic held a referendum on secession from the USSR and the establishment of an independent state. About 99% of the citizens entitled to vote chose independence.-0-
