Power grids, water supply, and data centers: what Tokayev spoke about in Munich
Tengrinews.kz — Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has met with Bernd Ulbricht, Vice President of Commercial and Financial Affairs at Siemens AG.
The second day of the Head of State’s official visit to Germany began with a meeting with Bernd Ulbricht, Vice President for Commercial and Financial Affairs at Siemens AG.
The President emphasized that Siemens is a vital partner for Kazakhstan. The company's core areas of operation—industrial digitalization, electrification, mobility, and smart infrastructure—are closely aligned with the priorities of the country's economic modernization.
The Head of State briefed the executive on systemic measures for the digital transformation of the economy's real sectors. In this context, he welcomed the joint project between Siemens and the Kazakh company Silk Road Electronics to modernize equipment at the Qarmet metallurgical plant.

According to Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan is interested not only in purchasing advanced equipment but also in establishing local manufacturing, engineering, and service capacities.
In particular, Siemens' expertise and technological innovations could prove beneficial in modernizing Kazakhstan's energy and utility sectors, as well as improving the quality of environmental monitoring.
During the meeting, the parties also noted significant potential for increasing cooperation with Siemens Healthineers in the field of medical technology.

Bernd Ulbricht thanked Kassym-Jomart Tokayev for supporting the corporation's initiatives.
"During its 30-year presence in the Kazakh market, Siemens has successfully implemented a number of industrial projects. The Vice President of Siemens AG confirmed the interest in expanding cooperation in areas of mutual interest," the Akorda press service noted.
According to Ulbricht, the company can offer technological solutions in power grid modernization, digitalization, automation, and water supply, and is prepared to participate in the development of data center infrastructure.
Additionally, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev met with Oliver Pfann, Senior Vice President of Linde GmbH. The President highly praised Linde’s contribution to the development of Kazakhstan's industrial sector.

The company is a global leader in industrial gases and engineering, with its technologies widely used in metallurgy, mining, chemical and energy sectors, healthcare, the electronics industry, and high-tech manufacturing.
The President welcomed Linde’s plans to implement new projects in Kazakhstan with a potential investment volume of up to $500 million. Specifically, the signing of an agreement between Linde and Qarmet for the construction of a new air separation unit in Temirtau was highlighted.
During the meeting, the parties reviewed prospects for implementing joint projects in the petrochemical industry.
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev specifically noted Linde's advanced developments in carbon capture and storage, as well as the company's plans to develop hydrogen infrastructure, which align with Kazakhstan's goals for transitioning to a "green" economy.
"In this context, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev informed his interlocutor about the development of petrochemical and chemical clusters in the Atyrau and Mangystau regions and invited Linde to participate in promising projects in these sectors. In turn, Oliver Pfann thanked the President of Kazakhstan for supporting the company's initiatives and expressed readiness to further expand the partnership and establish new production facilities in the country," the Akorda statement said.
On September 30, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who is on an official visit to Germany, arrived in Munich. He is expected to hold meetings with the leadership of the Bavarian government and the Landtag. Furthermore, the President will participate in the opening of the Kazakh-Bavarian Technology Forum.
