PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) — A Florida man is accused of stealing $26,000 worth of gold bars that he helped his neighbors move for safekeeping as Hurricane Irma approached Florida in September. The News Herald reports 70-year-old Cynthia Copley and her 69-year-old husband were preparing to evacuate and asked their neighbor, 28-year-old Corey Lofton, to help move the gold bars, which they hid in a cat litter box, to a boat on their property in Panama City. ABERDEEN, Md. (AP) — Police say they charged a student in connection to threats made about a shooting at a Maryland middle school. The Baltimore Sun reports that police determined four threats made against Aberdeen Middle School were non-credible. A student was charged in connection with one of the threats. The eighth grade student at the school was charged with making threats of mass violence. The school was on a modified lock down earlier in the week, with about half the school absent on Wednesday.
