PARIS — The first group of African refugees benefiting from a new initiative bringing those deemed to be especially vulnerable directly to Europe arrived in France on Monday. The 19 Sudanese, including 11 children, were selected from a camp in Chad, where hundreds of thousands escaping war have taken refuge. WASHINGTON (AP) — President Donald Trump declared a new national security strategy on Monday, echoing the message of his 2016 campaign as he declared "America is in the game and America is going to win." In a speech at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center, Trump faulted previous U.S. leaders for failing to look out for the nation's citizens. He promised to seek openings to cooperate with rivals, but added that "we will stand up for ourselves and we will stand up for our country like we have never stood up before.

The Galaxy are hoping David Bingham fills a need at goalkeeper. The LA Galaxy have completed a deal to acquire San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper David Bingham, the club announced on Monday. In the deal, San Jose receives $100,000 in General Allocation Money and $100,000 in Targeted Allocation Money for next season. The club could also receive an additional $50,000 in GAM in 2019 depending on performance-based stipulations linked to Bingham's 2018 season. PARIS (AP) — French authorities say the death toll from an accident between a train and a school bus last week has increased following the death of a sixth person. The local prefecture in the Pyrenees-Orientales region didn't specify whether the latest victim was a student on the school bus. The five others were children, ages 11 to 13. If you’ve been waiting for months to learn more about Brooks Lennon’s future with Real Salt Lake, you’re in luck: Goal.com’s Ives Galarcep is reporting that Lennon will be joining the club on a permanent deal from Liverpool.

The report, of course, is light on details — Lennon, 20, is contracted to Liverpool, and his deal was set to expire at the end of the year. He joined Salt Lake on a year-long loan in January.

The Santa Rosa Press Democrat reported Monday that the two drowned off Sonoma County's Goat Rock Beach on Sunday.
