Trump Suggests Lawmakers Are 'Afraid of the NRA'
President Donald Trump is suggesting members of Congress are "afraid of the NRA" as he convenes a group of lawmakers to address the deadly Florida school shooting.
Trump was asking Pennsylvania Sen. Pat Toomey and West Virginia Sen. Joe Manchin if their 2013 plan to expand background checks included raising the minimum age for young people to buy an assault weapon. Toomey says it doesn't _ prompting Trump to respond, "you're afraid of the NRA."
Trump says he knows that the National Rifle Association is opposed to raising the minimum age to 21 for people to buy assault weapons. But he says he's "going to give it very serious consideration."
