The Warriors announced Draymond Green would not return to the game.
Warriors forward Draymond Green will not return to Sunday evening’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers after he exited with 4:15 remaining in the second quarter with a left ankle sprain.
Green suffered the injury when he landed awkwardly after contesting a layup by Lakers guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope. Green tried to stay in the game, but appeared to be in pain and went to the locker room a few moments later.
It’s unclear if this is a long-term concern for Green. The Warriors were trailing 73-44 at halftime when the decision was made that Green wouldn’t return. Green had six points on 3-for-5 shooting, one rebound and two assists in 13 minutes. Forward Juan Toscano-Anderson started at power forward in the second half.
Green, who has missed five games with various lower-body injuries, is having his best stretch of the season. In his last 12 games, Green averaged 7.3 points on 44.6% shooting, 7.8 rebounds, 11.7 assists, 1.7 steals and 1.4 blocks.
