TOTTENHAM are set to battle Arsenal for the signature of Ajax maestro Donny van de Beek in the summer.
The Dutch midfielder has impressed for the Eredivisie outfit this season – where he starred in the 1-0 win against Spurs in their Champions League clash last week.
Van de Beek, 22, has chipped in with 16 goals and 12 assists in 54 games this campaign, and could be available for around £45million.
Arsenal are believed to have monitored him this term, but it is their North London rivals who have moved above them in the race to snare him away from Holland.
According to the Mirror, the Ajax youth graduate is Spurs’ No1 target at the end of the season.
They claim that Mauricio Pochettino has identified him as the perfect replacement for Christian Eriksen – who has just a year left on his current contract.
The Danish playmaker has been heavily linked with a switch to Real Madrid in the summer with Zinedine Zidane understood to be a huge admirer of the 27-year-old.

Bundesliga duo Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund also stake an interest in Dennis Bergkamp’s protege.
However it remains to be seen whether Van de Beek wishes to leave Ajax, especially if he wins Europe’s premier competition on June 1.
Ajax could be set to lose a number of stars in the summer, with Frenkie de Jong to link up with Barcelona, Matthijs de Ligt a target for an array of sides and David Neres being eyed up by Arsenal.
