National Zoo evacuated over bomb threat
The National Zoo was evacuated Tuesday because of a bomb threat, but in a sweep of the grounds, so far, nothing has been found, police told WTOP.
The National Zoo was evacuated Tuesday because of a bomb threat, but in a sweep of the grounds, so far, nothing has been found, police told WTOP.
Police said the zoo received the threat at 10:42 a.m. Police got the call about the threat at 11:09 a.m.
Authorities are conducting a sweep and in the meantime, roads around the zoo are closed.
A stretch of Connecticut Avenue Northwest directly in front of the zoo from Cathedral Avenue to about Devonshire Place is closed for the investigation.
It’s unclear at this time when the zoo will reopen.
