Something which bothers me in a lot of gaming subreddits
Would be good to have in a megathread instead of Animal Crossing Bells on the front page. It is interesting to share if you're the individual who achieved the landmark, but it gets tiresome to see so many"first blue rose" posts. I really don't think they ought to be prohibited entirely, but there's no reason anybody should be taking a picture of the display in 2021.
Pictures of irl merch
something which bothers me in a lot of gaming subreddits is"I bought the thing!" Posts reaching huge quantities of upvotes. However, there are a number of really talented artists out there making exquisite fanmade merch, which shouldn't be discounted. I would like to say that perhaps merch posts ought to be restricted to the people who made the items, but that might cross over into self-promotion too much.
Official merch definitely does not need to be part of the subreddit. This should be a place to show things off we have made, both in and out of this sport, and to discuss the sport as a whole. By definition, the official merch isn't made by community members, and the only effort involved with producing a post about it's taking the picture. We're going to be swamped with pictures of makeup boxes and Sanrio amiibo cards if we don't do something about it.
Just lots more prevalent occurrences. When you have been here almost every day for a year, you get tired of seeing"[villager] spitting fire!" Because yet another participant is having the"hating pineapple pizza is cool" conversation. And while it is mostly not an issue since winter is pretty much over, I got reeeeeal sick of seeing screenshots of misshapen snowboys stating"What. Is. Going. On." Yeah convinced that was amusing the first 10 days it occurred in early December.
Spoilers
Personally I am not bothered with this. I spoil the bejeezus out of myself every time an upgrade drops and somebody goes in to datamine all of the new assets even if they are still time-locked. I enjoy knowing what's coming so I could best prepare for it. The one thing that disturbs me about time-traveling is when someone posts about"finally" achieving something that is simply possible through time-travel, such as getting all the zodiac items, but we are pretty much past the point of being a problem now. When someone posts about a villager visiting their grandma's memorial, by way of instance, I just consider it as posting about Animal Crossing Items For Sale how they still feel their grandma is using them, and it is a joyful thing.
