Industrial fire and multiple explosions shoot debris into the air in Detroit suburb
A fire raging at an industrial facility has caused multiple explosions that rocked suburban Detroit, prompting police to implore residents to stay inside. The Clinton Township Police Department said on Facebook that debris was sent into the air and came down as far as a mile away. Macomb County Executive Mark Hackel told WDIV-TV the explosions started around 9 p.m. at a business called Select Distributors. He said after 11 p.m. that the fire had been contained. The Select Distributors website says it's a wholesale supplier of novelties, phone accessories and other merchandise. It wasn't known if anyone was hurt.
