A lucky person is reaching for the champagne this evening after the Super 5 lottery draw yielded a €487,254.93 winning ticket.  One ticket contained all five numbers drawn, Maltco said. 34 tickets contained four numbers and will win their owners €1,324.98 each.  Today's winning numbers were 12, 30, 14, 8 and 40.  Next week's jackpot will be of not less than €200,000, Maltco said.

Turkey's Interior Minister Efkan Ala has resigned, Prime Minister Binali Yildirim said today, following a string of bombings that prompted public criticism and concerns about intelligence failures before last month's failed coup. A man preparing to board a ferry to Malta was arrested after Ragusa police discovered 10kg of cannabis stashed away in his suitcase, Sicilian media have reported.  The man, a Romanian national, reportedly drew attention to himself by acting suspiciously and being evasive when asked questions by officials.  A search of his luggage yielded 49 wrapped packets of the drug. The man was arrested and remains in Italian police custody.

Coca-Cola workers found a huge stash of cocaine when they opened a delivery of fruit juice concentrate from Costa Rica at their factory in southern France. Local newspaper Var-Matin said the haul weighed 370 kg (815 pounds) with a potential street value of around €50 million ($56 million). Those figures could not be confirmed by Coca-Cola and the local prosecutor could not be reached for comment. German police said a misunderstanding led to a security breach that prompted the evacuation of Frankfurt airport's Terminal 1 and caused delays and flight cancellations at Europe's fourth largest airport today. The alert was sparked when security staff at the terminal, a major hub for international travel and home to Lufthansa , requested police officers come over to check a suspicious female passenger. An environmental group is hoping to breathe new life into Comino’s old bakery to help ease the tourist pressures plaguing the tiny island. The bakery, located close to Santa Marija bay, once provided bread for Comino’s resident community but fell into disrepair as the population dwindled to nothing. Now, Friends of the Earth Malta are making arrangements for the place to be given new life as an interpretation centre for Comino, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly tourism on the Natura 2000 site. Samir Nasri has left Manchester City for Sevilla on a season-long loan, the Premier League club have announced. Like goalkeeper Joe Hart, who joined Torino on loan earlier, the former French international midfielder does not feature in new manager Pep Guardiola's plans.
