MANSFIELD TOWN defender Mal Benning has revealed vile racist abuse he’s suffered on social media.
The 26-year-old, who is British-Asian, highlighted a message sent by ‘Rhys’ in which he was called a “dirty P*** b******.”
The left-back has been at Field Mill since 2015 and is closing in on 200 appearances for The Stags.
He wrote on Twitter: “Not experienced much “racism” as one of very few Asian players in the professional game.
“But there is no need for this no matter what race you are or what team you support!”
He then included ant-racism organisation Kick It Out and the Professional Footballers’ Association.
Neither have commented so far.
PC John Albanese, the dedicated football officer for the club, replied and said: “We are aware and will be investigating.”
