Polish prosecutors investigate Walesa’s sworn testimony
WARSAW, Poland — Poland’s special prosecutors said Tuesday they are investigating whether former president and democracy icon Lech Walesa made false statements during sworn testimony. Critics of the investigation say it’s a new step by Poland’s ruling party to diminish Walesa’s status as leader and hero of the country’s victorious pro-democracy movement of the 1980s.
