Istanbul airport shut down over security threats
A 'security alert' at Turkey's biggest airport has been unveiled as a hoax.
Reports on social media and news sites claimed all of the entrances at Istanbul Ataturk Airport were closed this morning due to security concerns, the Mirror reports.
Passengers were falsely said to be banned from entering or leaving the building, with some reports claiming there was a bomb threat at the site.
Both domestic and international passengers were reported to be affected by the closures.
However, the Governor of Istanbul Province released a statement this afternoon, dismissing the reports and revealing flights are operating as normal.
