Detained Armenian opposition figure charged with illegal weapons possession
Zhirayr Sefilyan, the prominent Armenian opposition figure detained recently in Yerevan, is facing official charges over illegal possession of weapons.
The inquest found that the activist organized the procurement, delivery and storage of arms and ammunitions through a group of accomplices.
According to a press release by the Investigative Committee, he maintained direct contact with the other individuals detained along with him, instructing them to transport and keep the arms supplies in different hiding places and be ready to use them upon receiving instructions.
Sefilyan has refused to give a testimony; at a cross-examination held recently he didn’t ask anything to those who had testified against him.
The inquest body has submitted a motion to the court for keeping the activist in detention.
