A shocking footage has emerged of a groom-to-be being whipped with salt then poured into his wounds as part of a worrying pre-wedding prank, the Sun reports.
The man, only identified by his surname of Jiang, was willingly ambushed by a group of friends and family on his big day in in Xinning County in Shaoyang City in Central China’s Hunan Province, where the bizarre pre-wedding ritual is said to be customary.
The footage shows Jiang wearing only his pants, while his legs and back are covered in open wounds from having been repeatedly whipped by his mates.
If that wasn’t bad enough, he then allows packets of salt to be poured over the wounds, which is obviously going to hurt.
Both Jiang and his wife refused to comment, according to a local report, but local officials confirmed that the wedding prank had taken place and adding that the groom had no hard feelings.
The unnamed official even revealed that Jiang was treated in hospital - and that he returned the favour the very next day during his good friend’s wedding.
