Tommy Kono, two-time Olympic champion weightlifter, dies at 85
Tommy Kono, who began to lift weights while his Japanese American family was held in a detention camp during World War II, then went on to win two Olympic gold medals and three titles as Mr. Universe, and who was often hailed as the greatest weightlifter of all time, died April 24 at a hospice facility in Honolulu. He was 85.
