Kris Bryant is still dealing with a pretty banged up left hand and even after getting a shot to help ease the pain a few days ago the Cubs third baseman remains out of the lineup for Friday’s series opener against the White Sox.
David Bote will once again be filling in for Bryant at third base, while Hernán Pérez gets his first start with the Cubs at second. Right-handed batter Albert Almora Jr. is also in the starting nine, as he’ll patrol center field.
Meanwhile, Ian Happ stays in the leadoff spot against lefty Dallas Keuchel.
Yeah, definitely not the strongest lineup for the Cubs at the bottom of the order with Pérez and Almora.
For the Cubs, you kinda just hope Almora makes every play in center and anything he gives you at the plate is a bonus. Pérez? Just don’t screw up.
