Border farce an indictment of government
What sort of tinpot outfit has Australia turned into when the Australian Prime Minister on Saturday was publicly forced to reassure people that they would not be stopped randomly in Australian streets and asked for their visa papers ("Border farce: PM feels heat over visa checks", August 29-30). The planned checks and interrogation reveal much about the government attitude towards us. Despite Tony Abbott's protestations that he knew nothing about this it remains an outrageous indictment of him and his government.
