ABC lets the ‘Dog’ out in new comedy
A sitcom about a talking dog may not bode well for the dawn of another golden age on network TV, but ABC’s new “Downward Dog” defies several of the reasons you think you never want to see a talking animal show again.
The sitcom premieres Wednesday, May 17, at a special night and time, before moving to its regular Tuesday time slot on May 23.
[...] Nan means well as a dog parent, but her crazy work life and crazier personal life often get in the way.
[...] Hodges, who created the show with Michael Killen, is right up there with one of the most memorable “unseen voices” in TV, Carlton the Doorman, voiced by Lorenzo Music, on Valerie Harper’s old sitcom, “Rhoda.”
[...] dog lovers will lap this show up like a dish of Gravy Train, because we all believe our pets have human personalities and emotions.

Sitcom, 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, then moving to its regular time slot of 8 p.m. on Tuesday, May 23, on ABC.
