Amid a public outcry, the 49ers, citing “due process,” allowed starting defensive tackle Ray McDonald to play after he was arrested for felony domestic violence involving his pregnant fiancée. In January, the NFL Network reported York’s mom, owner Denise DeBartolo York, interviewed head-coach candidate Tom Cable for an hour on the phone and Cable’s history of domestic violence allegations presumably inspired the lengthy conversation.
