‘The Tempest’ reunites Lawrence Hecht with Bay Area
If Shakespeare’s “The Tempest” is all about long-awaited reunions — with Prospero, the deposed Duke of Milan, and his daughter, Miranda, encountering enemies and allies from their court for the first time in 12 years — then so is Livermore Shakespeare’s production of the play.
Essaying the role of Prospero, who since his banishment has ruled a magical island with sprites and fairies at his command, is Lawrence Hecht, who was a company member of American Conservatory Theater’s core acting company for more than two decades before leaving for the Denver Center for the Performing Arts.
