Giants avenge purpose pitches to Posey with potent punch
Anger swelled in in the Giants dugout, from manager Bruce Bochy down, and they repaid the Diamondbacks and their starter in a painful way, by turning the game on its head, scoring the next six runs and beating Arizona 6-2 Friday night.
Bochy charged out of the dugout and got ejected after home-plate umpire Quinn Wolcott warned both sides, arguing Corbin should have been tossed on the spot for at the Giants' All-Star catcher twice.
Brandon Crawford then fired up the karma wagon and hit a two-run homer into the Arcade to tie the game, and yeah, Crawford sought revenge.
Crawford added an RBI single and a double.
The Giants raised the majors best record to 55-33 while the Diamondbacks capped their night by raising the white flag on their season.
When Segura batted again in the second, with the Giants down 2-0 and a runner on first, Samardzija hit Segura on the elbow with the same running fastball that the leadoff hitter clubbed for his home run.
Blanco, who capped the scoring with his first career pinch home run, said the entire dugout was upset.
Samardzija retired 12 of his next 13 batters after the warnings went 6 2/3 innings, allowing no runs after the two in the first .
A bullpen under attack contributed 2 2/3 shutout innings, most notably Sergio Romo, who struck out three consecutive batters in the eighth after a Paul Goldschmidt single, staking a claim to his old setup job.
Denard Span went 0-for-5 in his return from a neck injury, but made a terrific running catch in deep center to rob Rickie Weeks Jr. of an extra-base RBI hit in the ninth.
