‘Somm’ follow-up to open Napa Valley Film Fest
The opening-night film for the 2015 Napa Valley Film Festival, appropriately enough, will be the world premiere of Somm:
Jason Wise’s follow-up to 2013’s acclaimed “Somm” looks into the lives of some of the world’s most accomplished sommeliers and winemakers, while delving into the ways history has shaped the wine available today.
The five-day festival will screen 125 new independent films and host 150 wineries and 30 chefs along with the actors and filmmakers — all the better to staff food demonstrations and wine tastings.
In addition to mushroom, winemaker and brewmaster dinners, and pairings, the Mushroom, Wine and Beer Festival will offer mushroom exhibits, guided mushroom forays and cooking classes.
Fresno’s Twin Rivers Vintners Association is made up of 12 local wineries, each with its own distinct signature — still employing a 1936 grape crusher from Italy, producing mead wine from honey, winemaking the low-tech natural way or pairing wine with weekly entertainment.
