Vogelsong wins in relief in Giants’ wild second-half opener
PHOENIX – The best thing about the All-Star break for players is rejuvenating tired legs after the first-half grind. So much for that. The Giants returned from their four-day hiatus Friday night and played for 5 hours, 11 minutes before beating the Diamondbacks 6-5 in 12 innings. It was epic. The teams combined to use 17 pitchers. The Giants used 22 of their 25 players. Only Madison Bumgarner, Jake Peavy and Chris Heston were spared.
