Just back from Bhutan
Tiger’s Nest outside of Paro (a trek up to 10,000 feet); and the National Institute for Zorig Chusum, called the Painting School, in Thimphu, where you get to see Bhutan’s 13 traditional arts and crafts.
Don’t bother:
Handicrafts and the traditional dress toego (woman’s jacket with large cuffs) and kira (long, straight skirt).
Buying a thangka (a Buddhist painting with a brocade) from the Painting School.
More U.S. cash; it’s widely accepted and happily received.
The world’s warmest, friendliest people are here.
