California Lottery’s new prize: French Laundry dinner
The winner of the Ultimate Foodie Experience gets dinner for two at the French Laundry in Yountville, a two-night stay and spa treatment at the Napa Valley Lodge and BMW car service between the restaurant and the resort.
Players must submit to the Lottery a photo of themselves holding an Emerald 10’s ticket and write a caption of 500 characters about why they should win and whom they’d take to the big meal.
Unlike other games, in which winners are determined by chance, the Ultimate Foodie Experience winner will be selected by Lottery staffers.
Lottery officials say that participants must give a unique reason for wanting to experience the dinner and that the most creative entry will win.
News of the contest got us thinking about other fun promos Bay Area cardrooms and casinos might consider offering, like a poker tournament at San Jose’s Bay 101 in which the winner gets to play with poker pro Phil Hellmuth (who is a regular there).
Or a social media contest at Graton Rancheria Casino in Rohnert Park, through which the winner gets to take home a few cases of Sonoma County wine.
