CHARLOTTE, Vt. (AP) — The owner of one of Vermont's most prolific dairy farms has filed for bankruptcy protection. The Burlington Free Press reports (http://bfpne.ws/2xZYZy8 ) Michael LaClair, owner of the Nordic Farms dairy operation, filed last month. LaClair listed $2.1 million in debt. LaClair purchased the Charlotte dairy operation from Clark Hinsdale III in February 2014. Hinsdale still owns the property the farm sits on. BRATISLAVA, Slovakia (AP) — The leaders of the three parties that form the governing coalition in Slovakia have signed an amendment to their deal to rule together. It ends a crisis that began last month after a junior partner, the ultra-nationalist Slovak National Party, unexpectedly announced it was withdrawing from it. NEW YORK (AP) — Though damage from Hurricane Irma is extensive, property insurers are breathing a sigh of relief with the storm nowhere near as catastrophic as many had feared. BERLIN (AP) — Scientists say DNA tests on a skeleton found in a lavish Viking warrior's grave in Sweden show the remains are those of a woman in her 30s. While bone experts had long suspected the remains belong to a woman, the idea had previously been dismissed despite other accounts supporting the existence of female Viking warriors. AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) — A deal has been reached allowing a man who dismembered his father to avoid a criminal trial. Leroy Smith III, the first detainee to be forcibly medicated in Maine, entered a plea that he was not criminally responsible for his actions under an agreement between prosecutors and the defense. HAVANA (AP) — The Latest on Hurricane Irma's impact on the Caribbean (all times local): 9:15 a.m. Cuban state news media say 10 people died across the island as it was being battered by Hurricane Irma. Most of them died in Havana, where chest-deep seawater pushed several blocks into densely populated neighborhoods. The state media say several of the deaths occurred in partial building collapses. Much of Cuba's housing stock is deteriorating. At least 24 people died in other parts of the Caribbean as the hurricane blew through.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates (AP) — Authorities say an Emirati pilot taking part in the Saudi-led war in Yemen has been killed in a crash. The state-run WAM news agency said Monday that a "technical malfunction" led to the pilot's death. It did not elaborate. WAM said another soldier died Monday of wounds he earlier suffered in the conflict. Over 100 Emirati troops have been killed in the war. HILO, Hawaii (AP) — A Hawaii County legislative auditor says an investigation found that the county's hiring practices are questionable. BANGKOK (AP) — Pointing to the ashes of a destroyed village that was once home to dozens of Rohingya Muslim families, the abbot of a nearby Buddhist monastery insisted he knew who had set it ablaze. ZADAR, Croatia (AP) — Torrential rain has hit the Croatian Adriatic coast, triggering flash floods that have closed roads and left large areas without electricity. The downpour in the central Adriatic city of Zadar on Monday suspended school classes and flooded houses and hospitals. A river bridge was destroyed by surging waters. The storm has moved from north to south after triggering havoc in the Istrian peninsula over the weekend. NEW YORK (AP) — Tesla is rolling out more charging stations, clearing additional obstacles for those who might want to give electric cars a try. The stations, being installed in places including Boston and Chicago, will be ready to go on Monday. The new stations, which take up less space and are easier to install that previous models, can deliver 72 kilowatts of dedicated power to each car. HILLSDALE, Mo. (AP) — One teenager is dead and two others are wounded after a shooting in St. Louis County. Police say the shooting happened Sunday night in Hillsdale. St. Louis County police spokesman Benjamin Granda says someone in a car opened fire on another car. An 18-year-old ran from the car into a home, where he collapsed and died. The other victims are being treated at a hospital. Police say both are expected to survive. They are ages 18 and 15. No arrests have been made.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The North Carolina National Guard is ready to respond to help deal with the effects of Tropical Storm Irma. Gov. Roy Cooper said in a news release Sunday night that the National Guard was staging in Asheville, Charlotte and Greensboro to be ready to respond to any problems. Cooper planned to meet with reporters Monday to provide an update on storm preparations. MOGADISHU, Somalia (AP) — A Somali military official says Islamic extremist fighters killed four government soldiers and briefly took a town near the border with Kenya Monday. Col. Osman Ali said the Monday morning attack on the town of Beled-Hawo started with a suicide car bombing targeting government troops' frontline defenses. BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — A Louisiana woman accused of leaving her 2-year-old and 8-year-old children inside a hot vehicle has been arrested. The Advocate of Baton Rouge reports 37-year-old Nakasha White is accused of leaving her children in an SUV on Saturday. With temperatures reaching higher than 85 degrees, authorities say the vehicle's windows were rolled up and there was no air provided inside the SUV. Baton Rouge police said in an arrest report that the 2-year-old was drenched in sweat when he was found at the Pull-a-Part auto parts store.

NEW YORK (AP) — President John F. Kennedy's granddaughter and Caroline Kennedy's daughter, Tatiana Schlossberg, has gotten married at the family's Martha Vineyard home. The New York Times reports the 27-year-old Schlossberg married 28-year-old George Moran on Saturday with former Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick officiating. The couple met in college at Yale.
