(AP) — The Rhodes Trust has named the 32 American men and women chosen as Rhodes Scholars who will pursue post-graduate studies at Oxford University. The 2017 recipients announced early Sunday were chosen from 882 applicants who were endorsed by 311 colleges and universities.

(AP) — Farmers in Mozambique face temperatures in the 100s and scarce water sources, said Washington State University professor of horticulture Carol Miles. Miles, who works at the WSU Mount Vernon Research and Extension Center, spent two weeks in Mozambique in early October teaching the basics of vegetable farming, reported the Skagit Valley Herald (http://bit.ly/2fh7wCV). LUCKNOW, India (AP) — Rescue workers used gas cutters to pull out survivors after 14 coaches of a passenger train rolled off the track, killing at least 90 people in northern India early Sunday, police said. JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) — A collision between a Vietnamese freighter and an Indonesian sailboat left 15 people missing off Indonesia's East Java province, an official said Sunday. CHICAGO (AP) — Chicago police said charges could be announced soon in the fatal shooting of an Illinois congressman's grandson following an argument over a pair of basketball shoes. New York housing police Chief James Secreto says the officers — one male, the other female — encountered the man Saturday afternoon on the ninth floor of the Van Dyke Houses in the Brownsville neighborhood.
